MindShare – August 6, 2020

July 20, 2020 by ODN Oregon

The MindShare is a virtual gathering. Seasoned practitioners and seekers, internal and external helpers and managers. Our twice-monthly MindShare meetings provide participants a rich environment for sharing professional experiences and challenges. The topic of each MindShare emerges from the needs and interests of the participants who show up at each session.

During our July 16 MindShare check-in, two professional practice challenges came up for the group to focus on. One dealt with how to market a leadership development and change process to an organization during this uncertain time, where the positive impacts will emerge over about 3 years. The second challenge focused on how to deliver feedback that would not be easy for the client to hear

Everyone offered great ideas, reflecting a broad range of perspectives and deep experience. The conversation flowed easily, and people built on each other’s offerings in creative and constructive ways. Both recipients expressed their appreciation for the thoughts from their colleagues.

We invite members of Color and those who have been affected by the current turmoil to join this MindShare conversation. We need your contribution to our knowledge, understanding and practice, and seek to hear what is up for you right now and what you need.

Date:  Thursday, August 6,  2020
Time:  4 - 5:30 pm
Location:  Virtual via Zoom. Please sign in early to make sure your audio and video equipment are ready to go. There is no technical support for virtual meetings.

Mindshare – July 16, 2020

July 6, 2020 by ODN Oregon

The MindShare is a virtual gathering. Seasoned practitioners and seekers, internal and external helpers and managers. Our twice-monthly MindShare meetings provide participants a rich environment for sharing professional experiences and challenges. The topic of each MindShare emerges from the needs and interests of the participants who show up at each session.

During our July 2 MindShare check-in, some participants noted their need to find virtual ways to continue their work during the pandemic, and others described their need to see more clearly how our OD skills and principles can have an impact to help dismantle Racism.

We spent time understanding a Cross-Cultural Equity Lens, recognizing the need for increasing awareness about our own and others’ implicit biases, and practicing how to engage with “others” to invite them to make visible “things you may not know about me that will inform how I show up.” People described several models and readings to support us in doing our own work.

We invite members of Color and those who have been affected by the current turmoil to join this MindShare conversation. We need your contribution to our knowledge, understanding and practice, and seek to hear what is up for you right now and what you need.

MindShare – July 2, 2020

June 25, 2020 by ODN Oregon

The MindShare is a virtual gathering. Seasoned practitioners and seekers, internal and external helpers and managers. Our twice-monthly MindShare meetings provide participants a rich environment for sharing professional experiences and challenges. The topic of each MindShare emerges from the needs and interests of the participants who show up at each session.

Two topics emerged in our June 18 MindShare, check in round describing “what is up for you right now and what you need.” We devoted half of our time to each. The first conversation focused on how we shift to developing clients and conducting business in virtual mode. We shared experiences and resources with each other.

The second conversation continued our conversation from June 4 on how we as the Oregon OD Network can increase our membership reach and diversity and contribute to the capabilities of our members to participate in the extension of EDI values and practices.

We invite members of Color and those who have been affected by the current turmoil to join this MindShare conversation. We need your contribution to our knowledge, understanding and practice, and seek to hear what is up for you right now and what you need.

Calls for Racial Justice

June 17, 2020 by ODN Oregon

Nationwide and global calls for racial justice have touched many aspects of our lives since the murder of George Floyd and others, before and after him. The protests around the country and the world have prompted organizations like ours to confront enduring forms of racial discrimination.

As we, the Oregon Organization Development Network, confront our current lack of membership diversity and consider our future direction, we commit to lifting up the OD values, competencies and skills that promote Diversity, Equity and Inclusion goals. We pledge to improve our own knowledge, understanding and practices in order to offer programs that will equip our community of practitioners to support those goals in their work.

As our newly-elected Board takes office, we will work to address the implicit bias in our organization, and put in place structures that support a more equitable, diverse and inclusive network.

MindShare – June 18, 2020

May 21, 2020 by ODN Oregon

Our twice-monthly MindShare meetings provide participants a rich environment for sharing professional experiences and challenges. The topic of each MindShare emerges from the needs and interests of the participants who show up at each session.

At our June 4 MindShare, participants spoke deeply about their experience of the protests and their sense of urgency for speaking out and taking action. We shared ideas about actions and strategies the Oregon OD Network could consider for engaging people of color. We identified ways to offer the OD skills that support respectful understanding and inclusion practices, as we undertake initiatives developed in our strategic planning.

The group expressed a desire to continue this conversation at the June 18 MindShare. We invite members of Color and those who have been affected by the current turmoil to join this MindShare conversation.

The MindShare is a virtual gathering. Seasoned practitioners and seekers, internal and external helpers and managers—All are welcome.
