Facilitator’s Playground Showcase – January 8, 2020

September 26, 2019 by ODN Oregon

Back by Popular Demand--Facilitator's Playground Showcase!

“Share, Learn, Practice, Connect”

Do you facilitate, train, speak, consult, lead, or just enjoy learning new ways of doing things?
Fantastic! Then this opportunity is for you:

  • Bring your favorite facilitation tool or technique, to share with others
  • Learn about new ones
  • Try out a few that you know about but have not experienced
  • Experience what it is like to participate

Join us for an evening of fun and experimentation. As a facilitator, trainer, consultant, or leader you may have a special tool or technique or new social technology that you would like to share, practice, and/or experience. This evening is your chance!

If you wish to facilitate in the showcase, please come prepared with everything you need to both share and run your tool / technique. Our Programming Committee is available to answer questions about the amenities available at the event (contact programs@oregonodn.org).

This event will also feature a Facilitator’s Bookshelf where participants are encouraged to display one of their favorite resources. We will have post-its and markers available to make sure everyone gets their book back at the end of the evening.

Where the night takes us depends on you! We will self-organize into clusters and do concurrent facilitations or, if it is a smaller group, we will organize the evening to try out as many different tools/techniques as we can.

Holiday Party – December 11, 2019

November 13, 2019 by ODN Oregon

It's a party with a purpose!

Celebrate - Connect - Craft New Horizons

Join us for an evening of delicious food, friendly conversation, program celebration and playful exploration of our future!

Let’s Celebrate
We will applaud the impactful work of our Community Consulting Program (CCP), recognizing the year’s efforts of both clients and consultants. Jen Birk and Dan Vetter are our emcees, showcasing our collaboration.

CCP is an outreach program sponsored by our network. It connects dynamic teams of Organization Development (OD)/Training professionals to provide free consultation to Portland area non-profit organizations unable to afford consulting services.

Let’s Envision: Craft New Horizons
ODN wants to hear from you! Imagine attending this party in five years. What has kept you engaged? Questions like these and your answers are part of designing our future as a professional network. Helen Spector and members of the OD Network’s Visioning Design Team will guide us in thoughtful, small group conversations.

Let’s Connect
Given human connection is at the heart of OD, join us for vibrant holiday networking. Fun activity will stimulate our conversations.

There is much to celebrate, so please join us!

Dan Vetter runs an e-learning design company that specializes in creating engaging custom online learning experiences for organizations. Throughout his career he has been actively involved in leadership and mentoring roles in both the OD Network and in the Association for Talent Development. Dan helped launch the Community Consulting Program (CCP) in 2004, and continues to serve as a volunteer coordinator for the program.

Challenges, Misconceptions, and OD Solutions: A Non-Profit ED Panel – November 12, 2019

September 26, 2019 by ODN Oregon

PLEASE NOTE:
This program is scheduled for TUESDAY, not Wednesday (just for November).

Please join us for a lovely evening featuring a rockstar group of nonprofit Executive Directors discussing the unique needs of nonprofits and the challenge of introducing OD solutions and approaches.

How do the needs of nonprofits differ from for-profit companies? What are common misconceptions and difficulties for external consultants walking into a nonprofit? What do Executive Directors need?

Do you work (or want to work) with nonprofits? You will leave with a better understanding of the context of “problems” wherever you show up. This is the perfect event for both a seasoned OD practitioner and a What-The-Heck-Even-Is-OD professional.

Nonprofit needs we will be exploring:

  • Board/Governance
  • Operations: Programmatic
  • Operations: Administrative
  • Funding

Our Speakers

  • Richard Seymour, Founder of the Nonprofit Startup School
  • Julie Wilke Pilmer, CEO with Ride Connection, Inc.
  • Mark Langseth, President and CEO of Greater Than
