MindShare – September 17, 2020

September 9, 2020 by ODN Oregon

Our twice-monthly MindShare meetings provide participants a rich environment for sharing professional experiences and challenges. This gathering of seasoned consultants and seekers, internal and external helpers and managers forms the core of how we support each other in building our community of practice across change disciplines and career situations.

People trade ideas and learnings with each other as we focus on the challenges individuals bring to the table. Coaching, mentoring, introducing different perspectives and reframes, all play their role in making these gatherings exciting and beneficial to all who come.

At our September 3 MindShare, we engaged around the current turmoil and future uncertainty of our times. Our increased sense of urgency and our ability to see the systemic injustices of our surroundings led us to consider how we can learn to engage with people who see the world differently more effectively than we ever have in the past.

Hearing each other’s stories and different voices energizes us and builds relationships that extend beyond the “room.” Please join us on the first and third Thursdays of each month. All are welcome!

Experiential Virtual Learning that Sticks: Keeping Employees Engaged & Motivated in Uncertain Times – September 9, 2020

August 6, 2020 by ODN Oregon

With face-to-face meetings at a halt, you are likely wondering how you can convert your in-person trainings and interactions into virtual experiences. Organizations must now level-up and offer new and creative ways to engage, train, and develop their workforce virtually. The modern workforce demands personalized experiences that are interesting, accessible, and available anywhere, on any device.

Isn’t this just converting existing in-person content into webinars?

No! Experiential Virtual Learning is different because it doesn’t just deliver knowledge through lecture, videos, and written content. It requires participants to take action, experiment, and apply what they have learned – establishing lasting behavior change. When used in combination with a variety of methods such as gamification and micro-learning, participants stay engaged and motivated. This kind of learning can be applied to all kinds of content, and works especially well for “soft skills” training, HR, and OD interventions.

Join this session to see the experiential virtual learning approach and how it can be implemented with or without a technology platform. In this enlightening and interactive session, attendees will:

  • define Experiential Virtual Learning
  • review design methods used in Experiential Virtual Learning
  • practice converting classroom content into virtual experiential learning

MindShare – August 6, 2020

July 20, 2020 by ODN Oregon

The MindShare is a virtual gathering. Seasoned practitioners and seekers, internal and external helpers and managers. Our twice-monthly MindShare meetings provide participants a rich environment for sharing professional experiences and challenges. The topic of each MindShare emerges from the needs and interests of the participants who show up at each session.

During our July 16 MindShare check-in, two professional practice challenges came up for the group to focus on. One dealt with how to market a leadership development and change process to an organization during this uncertain time, where the positive impacts will emerge over about 3 years. The second challenge focused on how to deliver feedback that would not be easy for the client to hear

Everyone offered great ideas, reflecting a broad range of perspectives and deep experience. The conversation flowed easily, and people built on each other’s offerings in creative and constructive ways. Both recipients expressed their appreciation for the thoughts from their colleagues.

We invite members of Color and those who have been affected by the current turmoil to join this MindShare conversation. We need your contribution to our knowledge, understanding and practice, and seek to hear what is up for you right now and what you need.
