Are You Witnessing Polarization and Change Resistance in Your Business and Life? – April 14, 2021

March 11, 2021 by ODN Oregon

Polarity Management expert, Barry Johnson, helps us Unpack the Power of "And" Thinking. Come prepared to learn a timely and relevant approach to the polarizing positions and discussions we experience today.

A riveting storyteller and engaging facilitator, Barry will help us evolve Polarity Thinking, an intuitive "And" thinking model/process, essential to your internal or external business practice and personal life.

Barry’s journey with us will take us through a personal application, an organizational approach with a Fortune 100 company and a community-to-global perspective on addressing the tension between dominant and marginalized cultures.

As participants, we will interact as a large group and break into small groups to share insights and form questions. Barry will bring us back together to impart mutual lessons learned and set us up for success – engaging in healthy interactions as an individual, in our organizations and communities.

This program also supports Oregon OD Network’s Statement on Calls for Racial Justice: prioritizing awareness, appreciation and meaningful action about race equity in our community outreach, strategic planning, programming and pro bono consulting work. We are committed to healing racial divides, building trust with communities of color and improving culturally adept communication and behavior with diverse populations.

DEI and OD: Helping Our Clients Connect the Dots – March 10, 2021

February 8, 2021 by ODN Oregon

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) has historically taken a back seat in organizational life. As society shifts, organizations are bringing DEI to the forefront of our attention. Professionals in OD, L&D, and HR are tasked with tall orders in meaningfully applying DEI to the workplace.

How can we help our organizations gain greater clarity around what DEI success looks like? In this interactive session with Isaac Dixon, a highly respected HR/OD leader, we will discuss the factors of failure and success as we move into an unfamiliar area of practice. We will also discuss how to align DEI with your organizational strategy, mission, or vision, and how to balance DEI with many competing priorities.

About Isaac Dixon
Isaac has been an HR professional for over 30 years. He has worked for companies such as NIKE, GE Capital, Providence Health and Services as well as the Oregon Military Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation. Isaac also worked in higher education at Lewis & Clark College and Portland State University, serving as the Associate Vice President for HR at both institutions.

He received his BS degree at Warner Pacific College, his MA at Marylhurst University and his doctorate at Capella University. He lives in Portland with his wife Lauri.
