Mind Share – April 16, 2020

March 26, 2020 by ODN Oregon

Our monthly Mastermind meeting has been going on since last spring and has become a rich environment for sharing professional experiences and challenges. Due to Covid-19, instead of in-person, our meeting on March 19 was done via Zoom and went very well.

With our new normal, for the foreseeable future, these meetings will now be held online. They'll be called "Mind Share" not "Mastermind." No pre-existing expertise required - come and share your mind! We'll meet twice a month.

At our April 2 meeting, we shared some insights from our own experiences with ZOOM as a platform and then Roger Courville shared with us a crucial process for translating things we do in face-to-face meetings into on-line format. He emphasized making sure you choose the appropriate on-line platform to accomplish your desired outcomes, rather than becoming wedded to one platform. Twenty-two people attended.

NOTE: An C@W_Online-Collaboration-Tools_4-2020 is available in PDF format to those who registered for the April 2 Mind Share. Compiled by Community At Work, a facilitation training and consulting group in San Francisco, it organizes a large group of on-line tools into categories by type of process needed, and annotates each with what it does well and what it costs.

At our next meeting on April 16, we will have our check-in (perhaps using Roger’s Analyze/Map/Discover approach—anyone volunteer want to try this translation to our ZOOM platform?) and an open forum discussion of a thread or two emerging from the check in.

Date:  Thursday, April 16, 2020
Time:  4 - 5:30 pm
Location:  Virtual via Zoom. Please sign in early to make sure your audio and video equipment are ready to go. There is no technical support for virtual meetings.
Cost:  Free to all.
Register:  Click here to register on Zoom. If you register early, you may need to re-register the day of the event. Space limited to 100.

Maintaining Our Authenticity in the Workplace – March 11, 2020

February 10, 2020 by ODN Oregon

EVENT CANCELLED!
Out of an abundance of caution regarding group meetings, Oregon ODN has canceled this meeting. If it is rescheduled, we'll let everyone know! Thank you for your understanding.

Imagine a workplace that celebrates our authentic selves. That joyful, creative, expanded part of us that needs no walls nor masks.

Crazy idea, isn’t it?

Who is that self, anyway? And what prevents it from expressing itself every day? How do we reunite with it when it’s missing?

As a shamanic practitioner, Lyn helps people restore their authentic selves. We all have a pesky sidekick called The Shadow that stands in the way of our own self-realization. We sometimes interact through our shadow self and engage with the shadows of those we work and live with. We also have created an adaptive self who has learned to fit in and get along, but has masked our true selves.

The term “shadow” comes from the psychologist, Carl Jung. In the shamanic traditions, being your authentic self is known as “walking in your power.”

In this time together, we will define both our authentic, adaptive, and our shadow selves. We will learn to see them in others as well. And we will learn ways to protect ourselves from others when they are in their “shadow.”

About Lyn Birmingham

Lyn blends her  many years in the corporate world as an animator and graphic designer with her training as a shamanic practitioner to help bring back the “Soul” to those in the workplace.

With over thirty-five years of shamanic teaching and healing, she offers classes and performs personal ceremonies for life’s passages, transitions, and contracts. Lyn leads group retreats as well as individual journey sessions for personal growth and healing. She is of Celtic and Cherokee heritage and combine aspects of both in her practice. Help Forge the Future of ODN! – March 7, 2020

February 25, 2020 by ODN Oregon

Please join us for Oregon OD Network’s Envisioning workshop!

On March 7, we will engage with the question “How will the Oregon OD Network support its members and partners as we serve organizations grappling with future trends?”

Background: In this highly participative meeting, we will re-engage with input gathered in December and interpret what it means given the context of game-changing trends reshaping the future of work and jobs that we explored in February.

During our December Holiday Party, 32 members, partners and friends created this mind map, using table discussion insights. The groups looked back at what organizations and change professionals have encountered by 2025, to answer the question “What issues does the OODN need to face as it develops strategies for the next 5 years?”

In February we connected with futurist Steve Brown and 35 members, partners and friends to understand the trends facing organizations in the future—the context within which all of us in “Change disciplines” will need to operate. Questions engaged include:

  • How technology will create new jobs and alter the structure of work
  • How increasing diversity (cultural, generational, racial, gender, and professional) will change the dynamics within the work force and in leadership and teams
  • How disruption of current workers will challenge all sectors to develop new ways of keeping people sustainably employed as jobs shift

Your Invitation
Come help us forge our course and answer: “How will the Oregon OD Network support its members and partners as we serve organizations grappling with these trends?”

Join the OODN leadership in this final, messy, sense-making session that will drive the future shape of our network.
