Vantage Point is an on-line questionnaire-based organizational survey tool available to Oregon ODN members for use in their professional OD practice with clients. It surveys 5 factors (adaptability, engagement, inclusion, alignment, and teamwork) that are critically important for organizational health. It has two advantages over other organization health surveys:
- It has been validated for reliability and validity by 2 PhDs, and
- Clients can add 10 custom questions.
Originally developed by Oregon ODN practitioners in 2010, more than 25 OD practitioners have evolved the tool to its current state. Click here to read the white paper on the development of this tool.

The Value of Vantage Point for Organizational Leadership
- McKinsey has substantiated the link between organizational health and performance; organizational health is responsible for at least 50% of any organization’s long-term success.
- The results can be interactively queried by client leadership, drilling until there are fewer than 6 responses in the selected subgroup.
- Leadership can add 10 questions.
- Leadership can see trends for all facets of the organization (department, gender, age, etc.).
- Leadership can see where to focus their efforts, then see the results of those efforts (“Did we move the needle?”).
- It provides great value.
- It can be used as an employee retention and recruiting tool.
- It comes with the support of an OD professional who will support your leadership and HR team.
The Value of Vantage Point for the OD Practitioner
- This is another tool in your OD toolkit.
- It provides an initial benchmark of the client’s organizational health.
- It creates the foundation for dialogue with the client’s leadership.
- It affirms the positive aspects of an organization.
- It is safe – individual responses are kept confidential.
- For best results, a client should take the survey every 6 months to see the effects of their decisions and programs, creating a long-term relationship with the OD practitioner.
