An Invitation to Serve Others

with You!

"As leaders, we have an individual responsibility and moral imperative to create an awareness about service and then develop and train others to serve. - - Gandhi

May 14, 2008

Overview

On Wednesday, May 14, 2008, we are inviting you to participate in an evening created by you – the PROFESSIONAL members of ODN OREGON - with the intention of sharing your best OD practices so others can grow and learn as a result of your experiences.

The idea of this session is to create an open forum where we can share with others our own OD philosophies, techniques, tools, and processes that we have found useful and valuable in working with our clients.

Whether we have 30 years of experience or are just starting out in the OD arena, we all have had learning experiences that now guide our planning and our working with clients. Some of these learning and growth experiences were absolutely delightful and pleasant. Other learning and growth experiences were painful, difficult, and moments we hope not to repeat. Regardless, each experience has helped us grow into the top quality professional OD practitioner that we are today.

"Without experience, one gains no wisdom". - - Chinese Proverb

The invitation is for you to come to the May 14th session prepared to share – in 10 minutes or less - an OD philosophy, a tool, a technique, a model, or a process that you have learned through your OD work experiences that could prove helpful to others in their growth and development as OD PROFESSIONALS. For example:

The following questions are intended to help formulate and organize your thinking and ideas so there is some uniformity to the discussions. These are only a guide so do not let your thinking be constrained by the questions.

A. How long have you been an OD PROFESSIONAL?
B. What was an experience that gave you an invaluable insight into how to operate as an OD PROFESSIONAL?
C. What is an OD philosophy, technique, tool, or process that you have learned is effective and beneficial in working with a client?
D. What is an OD philosophy, technique, tool, or process that you have learned is NOT particularly effective and beneficial in working with a client?
E. How do you use the technique, tool, or process when working with a client?
F. What do you do to make the technique, tool, or process especially valuable for each client?
G. While this is an excellent technique, tool or process, how do you know it is not appropriate in a given situation?
H. Where can a person go to get more detailed information on this technique, tool, or process?

On Wednesday, May 14, as many people as we can accommodate will have an opportunity to share their learning and insights about some element of OD work that will help others raise their personal performance capabilities.
