[Return to ODN Oregon Meeting Calendar]
April 9, 2008
Overview
As an internal or external consultant, when you receive a request to do work, at that moment you are involved in the first step of the consulting process. How you handle the initial contact, and how you proceed with the entry and contracting stages of the consulting process lays the foundation for the entire project. The April program will focus on the initial contracting process. By the end of the 90 minutes program, you will be able to:
* List 8 tasks in the contracting process
* Discuss issues related to 4 of the tasks:
-Clarifying client goals and outcomes
-Defining project scope, including time lines and deliverables
-Clarifying respective roles and responsibilities
-Negotiating resources
You will also receive:
* Elements of a Contract or a Memo of Understanding
* Self-Assessment of Consultant Competencies for Entry and Initial Contracting.

Directions
Parking
As of late January, University Place has discontinued the $2.00 parking discount
for ODN-OR meeting attendees. Worst case is that parking for our meetings there
would be $3 per car for the evening. We hope to get that discount reinstated
and will be speaking directly with the PSU department that imposed the increase
on University Place's lot.
Other Parking Options:
1. Lucky in the Lot?: Some nights the booth has no attendant. On those nights
(and we have no way of knowing when that will occur) just park and come into
the meeting and you will not have to pay. If you see an attendant and donąt
want to pay $3.00 try the next option.
2. Metered Parking on nearby Streets At the rate of $1.25 per hour until 7pm
when it is free. For example, if you arrive at 6:15 for the meeting you would
pay $1.00 for 48 minutes of parking. Use coins, bills, or credit cards.
3. Where to find open parking spaces: Some spaces may be available on Lincoln
Avenue directly in front of University Place. Many more open spaces can be found
to the West of University Place on Fourth Avenue. Even better places to find
close-in, available spots are on the small side streets that join 4th Avenue,
directly West of University Place and to the West of 4th.
4. Think Sustainability Carpool with another member. When we upgrade our website,
hopefully there will be better ways for members to contact one another about
such things.
