Overview
4th in the Series: Forces Affecting the OD Profession...
Rapid cultural evolution in a globe-spanning start-up
Rupert Prince, the Executive VP of Sales and Marketing of RF Arrays Systems Pvt. Ltd, will talk about his company at the ODN meeting on September 13th. Richard Read has written about the company and Rupert's career in The Oregonian. Since March 2005, when Prince joined the company, its culture has evolved rapidly from one with a strong academic flavor and hierarchical style to a more commercial and egalitarian one. Rupert will talk about how the change played out both socially and technically.
RF-Arrays mission is: " To provide innovative solutions to the RF [radio frequency] market by designing, selling & marketing RF components & subsystems. We strive to exceed our customers’ expectations in design, service, & value for money." RF-Arrays is a start-up that designs and manufactures small telecommunications devices that are built into other products. The company's main base of operations is in Nagpur, India. This case study will continue ODN's focus on globalization, economic integration, the role of the OD professional, and knowledge-intensive organizations. To that, it adds a series of cross-cultural issues that fundamentally affect economic viability and collaboration across cultures.
