Learning Collaboratives:
An Effective Method of
Organizational Change in
Health Care

July 14, 2004
Pat Tangeman

Overview

Change in primary care offices. . .Is this possible? Is this needed in today’s health care system? Many would say yes. The learning collaborative is a continuous quality improvement model that is being instituted across the country to successfully demonstrate change in primary care offices. Pat Tangeman, internal consultant at Oregon Health and Science University, will present the process and positive change data from a 3-year study using this model of organizational change in 6 primary care offices in Oregon and will engage participants in a discussion of further use of this model in other organizations.
